Cody's Twice as old as yesterday

Cody Marshall Notte born 8:32AM Wednesday June 23rd, 7 lb 14 oz, 20.25 inches. Super Cute!

Good evening! Cody and Daddy just went off to his circumcision. Mommy decided to stay behind. He had a good day. He had two good feedings and many more attempts, and opened his eyes a lot. He passed his hearing test and also got some other Cali prick in the foot thing and he did good. I was off morphine and feeling a little more pain today, but walking around I'm told helps so I think I'm going to walk down the hall to take a shower. (We opted for the bigger room with a view that doesn't have a shower) Greg has been amazing. I haven't changed a diaper nor swaddled and Greg is getting pretty good at it. When Cody sleeps we stream World Cup through my computer. What a US game! Greg watched the Italy game while I slept. We hear that tonight Cody may be really awake and keep us up so I got in a nice long nap before dinner. Food is a little weak, they gave me chicken broth instead of veggie. Yuck! But we caught it and after an hour they tracked down some veggie soup, tough times. I can't believe he's been here for two days. Yesterday was pretty surreal, he came fast, Greg announced, "it's a boy" and cut the cord, then we were able to do the Cord Bank. We found out why he was breached. His umbilical cord was folded onto itself and adhered together making it wicked short so no Western or Eastern medicine was going to move that baby. They also said I was having contractions, so even with the schedule C, I may have showed up in the hospital anyways yesterday. The doc just came back with a successful procedure on Cody and said I had already started to dilate before the surgery. Well tomorrow is my half way point at our hospital accommodations, the nurses have been really helpful and nice, but it'll also be great to be home soon and show Cody off to Barb and John. We'll keep sending pictures. Have a good night!

Baby Shower

Yesterday my department chair, Michal organized, a baby shower at her house. It was super cute. There was about 20 people there, mostly from work plus my friends Sabrina from NY, and Cherie from the Merit program. Greg made an appearance with a sharp new haircut. The food was amazing and the kids super thoughtful. The green quilt I'm hold in the picture Michal made. It's beautiful. She also lent me a bassinet for our bedroom that is super precious. Underneath it has the 12 babies that slept in it before baby Notte. Speaking of Baby Notte looks like will meet him/her this Wednesday morning while the US is playing Algeria during our scheduled C-sestion. It's not the original birth plan, but we're super excited about getting to meet baby and have the support of the hospital for the next four nights. Then Barb will arrive on Monday and we just found out John is coming too later that week! For our last weekend sans baby we went to a beautiful restaurant on the ocean near half moon bay friday, relaxed on the coach watching Avator after the baby shower saturday, and right now we're going out for a father's day brunch at a cool restaurant then into some mini golf where I plan to kick Greg's butt.

Flip baby!

Officially today I'm done with school! Ten years! OMG. Of all my schools, I like Borel the best (with the big exception that Paige isn't next door) But Borel has been a great place to work and allow me to grow. This year I helped put on the first ever 8th grade Career Fair and next year I will teach but maybe also take on a leadership role around inventions for struggling students. Right now, its summer break and preparing for baby is top priority. As you see in the pictures we have move to a house and I am huge! We love it! Its in a nice neighborhood still in San Mateo. Greg has the garden growing beautifully. The baby room is coming along. And the baby...well the baby is very healthy and breeched. So I'm doing my best to flip baby. Here's the list of things I have done or am doing. It's pretty hysterical when you add them all up. People like me do these things to avoid a C-section. If they don't work it looks like Baby Notte will arrive next Wednesday or Thursday. I can't believe it.

10. talk to baby, tell baby to flip while watching the Flyers, keep saying "Flip for Flyers!"
9. lay up side down on an iron board with Greg leading a flashlight around belly and telling baby to move!
8. clipping clothes pin to my pinky toes as they are the pulling down point in acupunture
7. going to Equinox and while everyone else is Michael Phelpsing it in the pool rocking my sister's tankini and doing handstands.
6. going into the hospital for a version, where they externally try to move baby (ouch!)
5. going in for acupuncture
4. going home after acupuncture, getting on the ironing board in the inverted tilt position and having Greg burn mugwort herb near the pinky toes
3. seeing a chiropractor who told me my pelvis is all out of whack and is doing two more treatments this week
2 Reiki
1. rubbing belly in a circle and trying to tickle little baby feet to encourage the flip.

Ahhh you can't say I didn't give it the college try, but it's hard at 38 weeks. Baby is comfortable and mom is a little tired, but we'll give it a go this week and see what happens next week. This Saturday my social studies chair is throwing a baby shower at her place. Well I'm going to look at some wall decals, do my yoga then head to the pool for handstands. Have a great week. School is out for summer!!!
